UN summit meeting in 2005 to review progress towards global anti-poverty goals:

The United Nations General Assembly today approved a multi-stage work plan for 2005 that culminates in a high-level review of worldwide progress towards attaining the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) just ahead of commemorations of the world body's sixtieth anniversary next September.
Unanimously adopting a resolution on the format and organization of its work from late June through mid-September, the Assembly agreed that a High-Level Millennium review would be held from 14 to 16 September, and include the same format of debates and roundtable discussions of the 2000 Millennium Summit. "

Ian Williams is a seasoned correspondent on international affairs with experiences as colorful as a drinking competition with Premier Chou en Lai and a literary argument with Madame Mao. He is UN correspondent for The Nation and appears regularly on CNN, BBC and many other tv channels.
Jeffrey Laurenti is a senior adviser of the United Nations Foundation created by a billion dollar bequest from Ted Turner. His long time experience with UN relations gives him a unique perspective on the Report of the UN's High Level Panel.on the restructuring of the UN.
