Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate, Ambassador Javier Rupérez. The panel will be followed by a discussion with the floor.

The United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development will be officially launched on March 1, 2005 in New York.
The UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and UNESCO's Koïchiro Matsuura will be present at the ceremony. In addition to the international launch, a series of regional and national launches of the Decade will take place during the course of 2005.
In December 2002, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution to put in place a UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, lasting from 2005 to 2014. UNESCO was tasked with leading the Decade and developing a draft International Implementation Scheme (IIS).

The Civil Society Forum organized in conjunction with the United Nations (UN) Commission for Social Development, aims to facilitate a dialogue among the NGO community, government delegates, and UN representatives around key social development themes. Forum participants will have the opportunity to consult, strategize and develop policy statements to be contribute to and further the discussions of the UN Commission for Social Development (February 9-18, 2005).
The Civil Society Forum will also review social development progress and challenges since the World Summit for Social Development (Copenhagen, 1995). The Forum will focus on the central question of 'Why Copenhagen Matters for the Millennium Development Goals?' and will provide an opportunity for NGO representatives attending the Commission to network and finalize the NGO Declaration, which will be formally presented to Member States on the opening day of the UN Commission for Social Development."
